On the campaign trail, Barack Obama said that consumers, businesses and government would all have to chip in reduce the demand for electricity.

So far as we can tell, Obama hasn't explicitly asked "businesses, government and the American people to meet the goal of reducing our demand for electricity 15 percent by the end of the next decade," but his policies speak for themselves.

Here are just a few examples:

-- Stimulus money will help install "smart meters," devices meant to show consumers hour-by-hour electricity pricing.
-- The stimulus also includes about $3.2 billion for the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program, which supports state and local projects to improve energy efficiency and reduce fossil fuel use.
-- A cap-and-trade bill making its way through Congress requires large-scale utilities to reduce electricity use .

Between efficiency projects being supported by the stimulus bill, cap-and-trade legislation and new appliance efficiency standards , Obama has asked America to reduce energy usage. As a result, we rate this one a Promise Kept.
